Veater Ranch was established in 1937 when George Robert Veater's Grandfather, George B. Veater, purchased the ranch from the McFarland Family. Unfortunately George passed away far too soon in 1941. George R. Veater's father, Al Veater, took the ranch over in the 1950's. Due to unfavorable markets, difficult mountain country for cows, and poor rain cycles, George R. Veater's father Al was forced to sell the property one piece at a time. Fortunately George R. Veater was able to purchase most of the ranch as his success in wealth management grew. This granted his parents Al and Linda Veater a comfortable retirement that fulfilled him greatly in addition to his love of this land & making more usable country became his efforts every weekend with his dozer.
George R. Veater has been running cattle with his rodeo traveling partner, Joe Willoughby, since 2005. Our Veater Ranch team has been fencing, building roads and ponds for almost 20 years. George R. Veater continues to own the clearing 100 acres per year and has cleared about 2000 acres so far and that love will continue. "I appreciate saving the trees I can, clearing of the choked brush & within a year seeing more grass grow, ability to gather our cattle easier & providing more usable country while suppressing fire danger." George R. Veater
George's love of rodeo and the cowboy lifestyle go back to the earliest memories. He competed in rodeo from an early age. As an adult I was always a part time rodeo athlete and full time business owner to sustain my love of this ranch and provide opportunity! I took both seriously and blended them into a lifestyle I feel blessed to live. Some of George's rodeo accomplishments were winning the year end championships in High School, CCPRA, PRCA, SPRA and the CSPRA. George continued to find much love for a good bucking horse and we have bought many in their later years, given them a great life, socialize them and put on clinics with top instructors promoting the love for the sport of rodeo!
Our Saddle Bronc Clinics & our Battle Of The Best Rodeo is a way to celebrate this western way of life and give back to the sport that has positively impacted every part of George's life.
